Keep up with the tradition

Saint Peter is treated as the patron of my village and every year, on the weekend after the 29th of June, is celebrated this religious festivity in Valverde, a small village in the middle of Serra de Aire e Candeeiros. At the end of mass, there is a procession around the town followed be a afternoon of conviviality, which always joins the population of the village and its surroundings. For those who like to be in touch with traditions this is a wonderfull oportunity to get to know the people and their costums. You can spend a good weekend surrounded by music, activities, family and friends. There is always something to eat: roasted chicken, traditional cakes (so-called horseshoes), chouriço, candies, chocolates, or other things that are sold in a fogaça.

For the ones that don’t know what is a fogaça:

Enjoy it and have fun!!!
